Renato Peñafiel has been chairman of the board of Grupo Security since 2022. Mr. Peñafiel was previously the company’s CEO since it was founded.

Mr. Peñafiel joined Security Pacific Bank, Los Angeles, USA, in 1987 and subsequently co-founded Grupo Security Chile after purchasing Security Pacific Bank’s assets in Chile after it decided to return to the U.S.

During his career, he has held various executive positions, including Director of Financial Policy and Research Manager of the Chilean Central Bank, International Manager at Banco Sudamericano, and is currently an active member of the board of the Chilean Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABIF), COMBANC and COMDER, support companies owned by Chilean banks to carry out high value transactions, operating as a clearing house for local financial institutions.

He holds a Master's in Economics from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
